# How to cancel Fireflies AI

Cancelling is self-serve. Read first: what happens to your transcripts, the two refund policies that disagree, and the export step to do before the downgrade.

## Export first

Fireflies documents that downloading transcripts, summaries, and recordings is available on **Pro plans and higher**. Once you drop to Free, per-meeting download goes with it.

- **Per meeting:** PDF, DOCX, SRT, CSV, JSON, or MD for the transcript; audio as MP3 only.
- **Whole account:** Fireflies supports full data exports for all users upon request: audio as MP3, video as MP4 where available, transcripts and summaries as TXT, metadata as JSON. The download link is valid for 7 days.

The two paths use different formats. Use per-meeting download before cancelling if you want DOCX or SRT; the account export is the fallback after a downgrade.

## Cancel the subscription

1. Web app → **Settings** → **Account**.
2. Scroll to **Subscriptions** → **Cancel** next to the active plan.
3. Choose a reason → **Cancel Subscription** (or **Cancel Team Subscription**).

AI credits are separate: Settings → **Billing** → **AI Credits** → **Edit** → **Cancel Subscription**.

**Timing:** the terms of service say to cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge.

App Store or Google Play subscriptions: Fireflies' help center has no instructions; those are managed in the store's subscription settings (general store mechanics, not a Fireflies document).

## What happens next

Per Fireflies, paid features continue to the end of the billing cycle, then the account downgrades to **Free**. Existing meetings and data stay, under Free-tier limits.

Cancelling does not stop the bot. Turn off **Auto-record meetings** under Settings → Recording & Privacy, or follow [stop Fireflies from joining your meetings](/resources/stop-fireflies-from-joining-meetings).

## Refunds: two answers

As of the review date, two Fireflies help articles contradict each other:

- The **account, billing, and refunds** article says Fireflies does not offer refunds on subscriptions or AI credits.
- The **refund policy** article says: monthly plans get a full refund if used 7 days or less with 3 or fewer meetings logged, pro-rated otherwise; annual plans get a full refund if used 7 days or less with 20 or fewer meetings, no pro-rating beyond that; AI credits excluded; 5 to 10 business days.

The terms of service have no refund clause. Inside the seven-day window, write to support and cite the refund-policy article by name.

## Deleting recordings or the account

- **One meeting:** hover → three dots → **Delete** → confirm. Fireflies says this is permanent.
- **Whole account:** Settings → **Account** → **Delete Account** → **Delete my account**. Deactivated immediately, permanently deleted after 30 days, restorable by support inside that window. The privacy policy states deletion within 30 days of closing an account.

Deleting the account is also the only complete way Fireflies documents to revoke its access to a Google account and calendar.

## Pricing on the review date

Per Fireflies' pricing article: Free $0; Pro $10/user/month annual or $18 monthly; Business $19 annual or $29 monthly; Enterprise $39/user/month annual. Check the linked article before relying on these.

The alternative is not another cloud notetaker but capture that stays on your machine.
